Summerize: memories and rituals

Prompt: go to dictionary.com, the word of the day is your writing prompt.
Summerize: (v) 1797 ‘to spend the summer’. From 1935 as ‘to prepare for summer’.

As the school year draws to a close, all I have been doing lately is organising and preparing for the summer, or to rephrase it according to the word of the day: I have been summerizing. I sit cross-legged on the floor surrounded by suitcases and boxes of possessions with Friends playing in the background, I just can’t help but reminisce about the ‘good old days’ when summerizing meant something completely different.

Are February resolutions a thing?

I know I am unceremoniously late but what can I say, January resolutions have never been for me. New Year eves just don’t fill me with the kind of excitement that can convince me to give up my much-needed sleep. It’s a wonder I manage to cook!  What doesn’t help this early onset of ‘Teacher On Summer Vacay Mode’ is that I’m two thirds of the way through the school year. It feels like the end except there is a whole term left *sob*.

Sunshine Blogger Award

First off let me begin by saying a BIG THANK YOU to all you lovely readers and new subscribers. I hadn’t anticipated this much traffic to my page after being featured on Discover, it is very humbling.

I was nominated last week (I think? It’s exam season so I have no concept of time) for this award by the very talented Safiyah over at Scottish Muslimah. Check out her blog, it’s awesome. I guess this nomination couldn’t have come at a better time – allow me to tell you a little more about myself and the award. Continue reading “Sunshine Blogger Award”
